Again, today May 6th, 2019, at 7 AM I got ready for the bus, then 2 hrs ride to Purmamarca, this is the village where the seven colored hill located. The different colors are from iron oxidation. I feel so blessed to be able to see this, as in Peru I am planning to do a hiking to see this type of hill in June. The village has a church, a square with full of souvenir or handicraft shops. So I went up a hill to see this colored hill better, paid 10 ARS and climbed. I just realized that it was around 3000 m above the sea level, so I need to take it easy… had a heavy breathing for a while, relaxed a bit and enjoyed the view. I was too enthusiastic to enjoy and take pictures. Then I went around the city, hunting for my thimble and found a wooden one.

Then the trip continued to Picara de tilcara where the archeological site about an Incas city. It has botanical garden too where they have a collection of different cactus in south america. One of the cactus, actually has wood inside and it is forbidden to use this cactus as it grows very slow (1 cm per year). It is the same cactus as I have seen in SPA, Pasacana, Cardon cactus. The view around this site and monument is also quite magnificent!

The next stop was the city of Humahuaca itself. Again there are a church, nice townhall, an independence monument and full of handicraft shops. I also talked to an old man who makes jewelry from the spike of Cardon cactus and an old lady who makes wool and knit. I took a picture of both of them. Then I went downtown for lunch, quiso with quinoa and veggies, sort of a soup and The guy offered me directly the wifi. It was a good, cute and clean restaurant. On the way home, I passed La paleta del pintor (painter’s pallet) for picture and a small church in Uquia. It was a long way back to Salta but I think it’s paid off, I wouldn’t want to miss it!
