When I was about 2 years old, my parents took me to Lyon, France to live. I went to kindergarden there and therefore I can understand French pretty well. I have a best friend who lives there and we still kept contact till now. Later on two of my cousins from my dad's side also live there.
I have been back to Lyon many times after we moved and everytime it was always special! This time I went for a long weekend, from Friday till Monday. Due to the snow in Amsterdam, my flight had 2 hours delay and I arrived in the evening in Cremieu (a small village outside Lyon), picked up by my cousin.
The next day, my friend picked me up and the first thing to do in Lyon is ofcourse to have lunch as the local Lyonais... so we went to a cafe bistro, called La mere de Lea. I had the Fourviere menu with tartar Salmon, scallops & chocolate mousse with nuts dessert.
The next thing you should do in Lyon afcourse to see Vieux Lyon, Lyon view from the church on top of the hill Fourviere. You can still be sporty by taking the stairs up as well... there is also a funiculaire going up to see Lyon from that hill. In a clear day, we can also see the Alps in the background.
Then getting lost in the small streets in old town Lyon, find the Guignol and do many tasting of sweets, drinks, truffels, etc. This time I found something new, brioche with pralines, it is called Prallus. :-)
