Last weekend, I was in Baden, Zwitzerland, a small town about 20 minutes from Zurich. It was snowing at the night that I arrived & I was so excited. I do like snow, it belongs to the winter time to have some days all white covers by snow.
So when I woke up the next day, I opened the curtain and I got even more excited. Yass! I will have a proper winter feeling! I have everything with me, snow boots, winter jacket, hat and gloves. Baden, I’m coming!
I stayed in the hotel a bit outside Baden and apparently all hotels outside the town in Switzerland, they will provide you with the free bus ticket to get to town during your stay. So, the receptionist printed my ticket and explained to me a bit about Baden. Before taking the bus, I walked down to the river Limmat and crossed the hanging bridge to enjoy the scenery. I took some pictures then took the bus to West Bus station.
From there I walked to the city center of Baden. The city center has many angels around which I took some of their pictures. The first landmark is the Rotte Turm, the clock tower, you cannot miss it and this time of the year, there are also many lights decoration for Christmas. Passing the arch, I found the Lion fountain which decorated with advent candles, as in Roman Catholic tradition, 4 weeks before Christmas. I walked further till I saw a yellow arch. I am at the upper old town, as passing the yellow arch, the Limmat river appears, what a scenery. Around the corner from that point of view is the Cathedrale on the right and following river to the left, it’s the old wooden bridge. I also walked up to the castle ruin, all white... very beautiful!
At certain point, I decided to go to the thermal bath in Baden, as it is also famous from this town. It is called 47, during my walk to 47, I passed an elevator that brings you to the river level on the left. Further on, the Grand Casino is on your right. At the end of this street laid the thermal bath 47. There is an old fountain at the corner before the bath and in front of the bath, a measurement tower for weather conditions, like pressure, temperature, humidity is standing there, an antique green tower.
I enjoyed the afternoon in thermal bath with this special moment. The bath has 2 outside pools, heated to 35oC. I found it quite special, to be in one of those pools. I chilled there with snow falling on my face and arms that were outside the pool. It was a combination between cold fresh on your face & arms but warm in whole body. This is a very special occasion which it will be different if I come back to Baden in another time…
