🌿 Juicing, Hills, and History: A Serene Escape to Montenegro

In May this year, I treated myself to a getaway in Montenegro for two main reasons: to relax and detox through a juicing retreat, and to immerse myself in the country’s breathtaking nature, which I had long heard was stunning. After some research, I booked my stay with Zoe at Hillside Haven Retreats.

My home for the week was tucked away in Igalo, just 40 kilometers from Dubrovnik Airport in Croatia. Since Dubrovnik is a major travel hub, it made getting there much easier. The only slight adventure was the border crossingbetween Croatia and Montenegro — passport checks can sometimes mean long queues, so patience is key!

☀️ When I arrived, the sun was shining, and my room on the second floor opened onto a balcony with a view of rolling green hills. I instantly felt the calm I had been craving. I couldn’t wait to begin my juice detox and explore this lesser-known side of the Adriatic Sea.

🥾 Hiking with a View: St. Ilija Church

The next morning, we set off on a two-hour hike to St. Ilija Church, a hidden gem perched high enough to offer a panoramic view of both Montenegro and Croatia. The trail changed terrain a few times, but the reward at the top was absolutely worth the effort — a sweeping vista that left us all in awe.
