Going back in time with modern people

Today was traveling day, first about 2 hr flights from STGO to Calama, passing through Andes. Stunning view! I had 3 seats all for me. Then drove through the dessert area, mountains, volcanos, salt dessert, copper mines, windmills to the oase of San Pedro de Atacama On the foot of Licancabur conical mountain. I checked in to the hotel with swimming pool, hurray!
This is the village of about 10000 people and 15000 with the tourist, no asphalt road but just red lava stone kind of things streets and houses. But very touristic, at the main street Caracoles is full of travel agency, bike rent or handicrafts shops. It feels like going back in time with modern people.
Hi Alfi if I look at the first picture, it looks like a moonlandscape with an asphalt road. Like the Badlands in North America.
