It was Sunday and I woke up at 6 am, which is very early for a Sunday. But it was worth as I did a day trip outside Bergen to the north. We also passed the village called Dale, and yes it is the village where the famous Norwegian sweater/ cardigan (very nice quality and indeed expensive, I bought another brand) originally. They even have an outlet in that village. After driving about 1 hour, we stopped at Vangsvatnet, a large lake by the village Voss before we reached the high water fall Tvindefossen. After the water fall, we continued the driving till Gudvangen where the electrical boat cruise waited for us to bring us to Flam via Naeroyfjord.

Then the magical cruise on the fjord started. After about 2 hours, we arrived in Flam. Flam is a small village by the water, part of Sognefjord. The train track to Myrdal also passes this village, many souvenirs shops around, cafe and bakery (where I had my kanelboller, the Norwegian cinnamon bread). There is a train museum which is free entrance and you can do zip lining, speedboat cruise on the fjord.

After Flam, we went up to one of the mountain, up to 650 m to enjoy the beauty of Aurlandsfjord from a viewing platform, Stegastein, with glass window opening on the furthest edge. Apparently people are feeling a bit afraid to get closer to this glass opening. :-) I should maybe mention, about the road to go up to this view point. It used to be the only way to go to the north from Bergen, before they built the tunnels through the mountains. Indeed, traveling by road in Norway now, it’s traveling to hundreds tunnels through the mountains. However, all the tunnels have a name and the length of it, I’m impressed.
