I left Easter island on Friday, April 26, in the afternoon to Santiago and I stayed one night in Holiday Inn airport hotel. I must admit

this is one of the modern hotel I had. I enjoyed it and used this stay also to relax a bit, as my throat was protesting a bit... so Citrosan and codein for the cough.

The flight to Puerto Montt went smoothly, I found my pick up, Antonio then we went directly to see the lake Llanquihue and a German city, Frutillar. The weather was cloudy, but luckily it was dry. The leaves are turning yellow and it’s autumn again for me... a bit of mind twisted but that’s the effect of going to the southern hemisphere.

So, why the Germans were here, in 1838, there was crisis in Europe and the government of Chile would like to avoid the expansion of Argentina, by putting other people from another country. And they chose the Germans! It is like being in Bavaria, all the the wooden houses and a clock. Very cute actually.

On sunday morning, after a simple breakfast, I went with my pick up at 7.30, took the bus to the oldest national park in Chile, Vincente Perez Rosales. First visiting the small waterfall on Petrohue river, a sort of special setting of the waterfall then I took catamaran on lake Los Santos to Peulla. In Peulla, I decided to do a horse riding. It was really fun, I like it and I was not that bad, I think Sylvana would be proud of me. My horse is a female one, her name is Florcita. We walked passing a river, the wood and the Andes range, la Cordillera de los Andes. While walking into the woods, we saw some birds, also a kingfisher. But I also ripped my left arm jacket to a torn bush. After the riding, I walked around by myself in Peulla village which has only less than 100 inhabitants. I went to the cemetery to see the view of the peaks. But it was too cloudy. Then walked to another hill of waterfall La Novia. Then back to Puerto Varas on the same way, catamaran, bus and walking. I stopped at the city center, to find strepsils but they don’t have strepsils, they gave me a similar one. I tried to walk back to the hotel, passing a bakkery with nice cake so I bought it, rapsberry pie with merengue. That night I got a bit lost to find the hotel… it was dark. I just have to look the map instead of my belly feeling... ;-)
